Fur is an ever-fashionable and ever-present garment, but in order for it to retain its natural beauty, it needs to be preserved with care and attention by following a few small steps.

"Love your fur and she will continue to love you." Loving one's fur means, first of all, guarding it and protecting it from damage in order to keep it in optimal condition for many and many years.

The first thing to remember is that furs hate heat, chemicals and confined spaces where friction can build up. Therefore, the natural material from which fur is made requires a stable and cool temperature, without too much sun and excess air.

For this reason, it would first be best to avoid storing one's fur garments inside closets located in areas of the house that are too humid, such as the basement, or too warm, such as the attic.

Second, it is recommended to opt for a closet located near an interior door of the room, rather than one adjacent to a window. Light and heat can cause oxidation of the fur and cause it to change its natural color.

Once you have identified the wardrobe best suited for the proper storage of the fur, it is also good to consider the most appropriate area of the wardrobe in which to store it, i.e., an area that is sheltered but free at the same time, allowing the material to breathe while remaining at an appropriate distance from other hanging garments.

Another factor that should not be overlooked is the support hanger used to hang the fur, which should be chosen according to its weight and shoulder shape.

In addition, it would be preferable to lay each fur garment and accessory inside a cotton garment bag, or alternatively, cover it with a sheet that rests on the bastion that supports the hanger, without touching it on the shoulders, to avoid wearing out the fur. Absolutely avoid plastic bags, which do not allow the fabric to breathe.

Last but not least, it is advisable to place near the fur an anti-moth sheet or other natural remedies for protecting fabrics and materials against moth attack, which should be replaced every three to four months.

When you do not have occasion to wear the fur for a medium to long period of time, it is good to hang it for a couple of days on the balcony, always protected from sun and weather.

Finally, fur should be cleaned once a year to remove dirt particles and chemicals and keep it soft and enhance its natural shine. But never make the mistake of taking it to a classic dry cleaner, which can lead to disastrous results.

Always rely on professional furriers who can carry out specialized cleaning, taking care of fur garments with proper expertise.
